I applaud your fine news organization for canceling the Ann Coulter column.

As an independent voter and a longtime soldier (and Marine), I am all-too-tired of the right-wing stranglehold that the Republicans have on our military.

I and my fellow independent-thinking soldiers already have to put up with (strategically scheduled) Fox News broadcasts in the chow hall, and then we were further tortured when we opened your paper by having to look at her horribly written conservative column full of lies and disrespect toward our president. She routinely uses racist innuendo and outright false statements to further her extreme-right-wing agenda. In her view, everything that is not a hard-right “anti-President Barack Obama Republican idea” is some sort of liberal lie. She seems to be attempting to rally troops against our new president.

There is nothing wrong with an opposing view but, when that view is so far distanced from reality, and so polarizing that it can be contrary to good order and discipline, she needed to go.

When I see people adoring her or believing her rhetoric, I feel pity. Thank you for your excellent decision. Keep up the good work.
