I am commenting on "U.S. school in S. Korea mulls uniforms" (article, Jan. 26, Pacific editions).
I support a decision to require middle school students to wear uniforms. It would alleviate the teasing between students on the style of clothing individual students may wear. It would also reduce parents’ task of purchasing an enormous amount of clothing each year, although the school must be wise in choosing a uniform supplier that is affordable. The South Korean public and private school system has wrestled with the expensive and continual price increase of school uniforms for some time.
