I have enjoyed Stars and Stripes for 30 years, all over the world. In recent years, I have lost all confidence in the major news media. And now I read your rationale for dropping the Ann Coulter column [in the Aug. 10 ombudsman column, "Editors ought to keep their readers in the loop"].

Tell me you are not serious! "Stale" and "predictable"? She is the most widely read conservative columnist in the U.S., if not the world. Her books are always No.1 best-sellers. Her columns are consistently entertaining and thought-provoking, regardless of your point of view.

Please reconsider, or at least be honest in justifying your decision.
