It seems every time I read letters to the editor someone is complaining over petty things. The flight uniform debate, awards or what have you.
Get over it, and debate those issues with your friends and co-workers. Department of the Army decided on new uniforms, so guess what, you get new ones. Evolve — don’t stay in the past.
I don’t like the new uniforms, but you don’t see me wanting the old ones. On awards, it has been a rank-based award system for more than 20 years. So, unless you gut the Army and replace it with free thinkers, it will continue for another 20 years in the same old way. Sure, do what you can to fix it from the inside, but at the end of the day, it’s the same old thing.
I will complain about one thing: I hope Congress or anyone else never decides to cheapen the Medal of Honor. This is not a numbers game, with it or any other award.
I didn’t serve for awards. ... I served for my country.
