Health care system shameful
The health care industry in the United States is a very lucrative industry, and therein lies our problem. How can the citizens of our nation not only continue to pay outrageous health care costs and carry the additional tax burden that any health care package will engender?
I humbly submit that legislation be introduced taxing the living daylights out of the health care industry and reinvesting it in any health care reform package.
The European socialist health care program can serve as a model, but we must ensure that it is not the "people" who continue to fund million-dollar homes in sundry parts of the country, 40-foot yachts and memberships in fancy country clubs, not to mention cars that the "people" can afford only in the form of Matchbox cars.
All in all, our current health care system brings great shame to our nation. President Barack Obama was right when he said those of us who don’t have the right health care policy are an accident/illness away from utter financial disaster, washing away what little of the American dream one has been able to achieve.
