In response to the sergeant first class who wrote "An AR 670-1 burning fest?" (letter, April 23), I agree with him 100 percent.
I must have missed the ALARACT (All Army activities) message on the burning of Army Regulation 670-1, too. Here in Iraq you see the same violations. Even though the commanding general put out a policy on what is authorized, soldiers still do not follow the rules.
It must be that some noncommissioned officers are their soldiers’ friends and not their leaders, and they don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.
