The new Army and Air Force Exchange Service BX complex is not just nice, it is absolutely fantastic ("PX closing hurts personnel," letter, Sept. 24).

I am sure that the placement of it was well-thought-out by senior leadership. Placing it in an area that is convenient to all of the Kaiserslautern, Germany, military community would mean placing it in the middle of the A6 autobahn. I do not recollect an Air Force Instruction or directive in my 21 years on active duty that requires a base exchange/post exchange to be outside your front door.

I have been here in the KMC for a very long time and it is great to see a one-stop shopping center. Individuals seem to think it is inconvenient to have to drive 10-15 minutes longer to get to the base exchange. Well, it was inconvenient for some of us who had to drive the same distance to shop at the Power Zone or furniture stores in Vogelweh for the past 10 years.

People who are complaining need to get over it and let’s be thankful for what we have in our great community.
