As I follow the debate on homosexuals in the military, it seems the crux of the matter has not been addressed very well. The real issue at hand is one of morality, not "rights."

Attempting to equate the homosexual agenda with the civil rights movement is invalid for two reasons: First, it is homosexuals’ behavior that sets them apart and not their physical appearance. Second, homosexuals in the United States have no fewer rights than any other U.S. citizen.

Often the issue of marriage comes up. However, marriage can only be between a man and a woman. And nothing prevents homosexuals from getting married. If a homosexual man wants to get married, he can marry a woman, i.e. a person born female. If a homosexual woman wants to get married, she can marry a man, i.e. a person born male.

The practice of homosexuality is immoral, a sin against God and against nature. The objective moral standard can be found in the Bible, specifically 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Romans 1:24-32, and other passages too numerous to list.

The Navy and Marine Corps have the core values of honor, courage and commitment. But the practice of homosexuality is dishonorable and not in keeping with the core values of military service. Therefore, we should return to the previous policy of preventing homosexuals from entering military service and stand against such shameful behavior.

Our nation should well heed Proverbs 14:34 − "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people."
