Support our mission

My son plays for the Alconbury Dragons, and I compliment Stars and Stripes for posting the high school sports articles online so quickly. However, I am very concerned about the comment section.

The comment section allows readers to make anonymous comments, which are then posted at the end of the article. I have to ask why Stars and Stripes has chosen to allow these comments to be anonymous. Most of the comments are very nasty and can be very destructive to the players and coaches.

The question also arises about the legitimacy of the comments and who has supposedly submitted the comments. There is nothing to stop a person from posing as a player, fan or coach from another team.

I would suggest that Stars and Stripes revisit the policy for the comment section. Stars and Stripes needs to require a person to provide his or her name for publication and an e-mail address for verification that the person who is signing the comment is indeed the sender.

I would hope Stars and Stripes would make this change immediately.
