Letters to the Editor, Thursday, February 11, 2010

I, like North (a character on the cheesy American Forces Network commercial about Super Bowl ads), don't understand why Hollywood can't cut the military some slack one time per year and allow the Super Bowl ads to be shown during the game.

Super Bowl ads, to watchers in the States, are almost as anticipated as the actual game. So why not treat these as part of the game to us overseas? I know Hollywood has never been overly supportive of the military, but perhaps all the brass we have over at the five-pointed building could pull some strings.

So a few companies get free advertising. Could anyone care less? If nothing else, give us a better reason than "We can't."
