Poulsen writes: “I was maintaining security, watching over a vehicle checkpoint that my platoon had set up in order to find weapons and explosives. The checkpoint was set up in a little town called Horajab, which is located about 10 kilometers south of Baghdad.”

Submitted by Spc. John M. Villegas. This is a picture of a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device that Company B, 1st Platoon, 113th Engineer Battalion set off under a bridge in Mosul, Iraq. Villegas writes: “By blowing it up we saved a lot of lives that day because who knows where the driver was headed.”
