Support our mission

Nobody knows better than Stars and Stripes what you go through downrange. Except you. So we want your help in telling your story. E-mail us your digital photos, depicting what life is like wherever you are, whether on the FOB or on a mission somewhere in the wild. It’s “Your View” of your role in the wars, whether Iraq, Afghanistan or somewhere else. Candid (not posed) shots are best, and please include your name, unit, location and a short caption explaining the picture and your thoughts when you took the shot. Selected photos will be used in the paper and here at stripes.com. E-mail your photos to: view@mail.estripes.osd.mil.

Submitted by Staff Sgt. Darvin Graham, Company G, 710th Brigade Support Battalion Wrecker Recovery Team from FOB Salerno, Afghanistan. This happened back in July, outside of FOB Salerno, Afghanistan. While in tow with another vehicle that was hit by a car bomb, Staff Sgt. Darvin Graham and Sgt. Dwayne Moseley from Golf Company, 710th BSB/4-25 Field Artillery had to disconnect from that vehicle and drive in reverse about a quarter of a mile to recover this vehicle that was overturned into the raging water. The vehicle was successfully recovered in less than 30 minutes with minimum damage.

Submitted by Sgt. Abbie Enerson, 1st Brigade, 34th Infantry Division Brigade Troops Battalion. Spc. William McPherson is dressed to impress during a mission. McPherson is part the 1st Brigade, 34th Infantry Division Brigade Troops Battalion stationed at Tallil Air Base, Iraq. I rode up on a convoy with this soldier to BIAP. He was by far my favorite gunner because of his motivation. McPherson served up in the Ramadi area prior to joining our battalion in Tallil.
