Support our mission

Nobody knows better than Stars and Stripes what you go through downrange. Except you. So we want your help in telling your story. E-mail us your digital photos, depicting what life is like wherever you are, whether on the FOB or on a mission somewhere in the wild. It’s “Your View” of your role in the wars, whether Iraq, Afghanistan or somewhere else. Candid (not posed) shots are best, and please include your name, unit, location and a short caption explaining the picture and your thoughts when you took the shot. Selected photos will be used in the paper and here at stripes.com. E-mail your photos to: view@mail.estripes.osd.mil.

Submitted by Navy Lt. William L. Webb.Combat Aircrew 12 of the “Pelicans” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 45 conduct preflight for a combat reconnaissance mission in direct support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The crew was surged to Ali Air Base, Iraq. Picture was taken on top of a fire bottle on the flight line to help steady the camera.

Submitted by Maj. Tim Brooks, 213th ASG, LSA Anaconda, Iraq.Lest We Forget. I wanted to take a picture of the base sign at Camp Buehring and find out for whom the camp was named. I noticed my reflection when taking a picture. I thought it was ironic seeing my reflection in a picture at the beginning of my second mobilization in the war on terror.

Submitted by Capt. Alma Z. Hernández, Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, Camp Victory, Iraq.Spc. Robert Kubowski, of the Multi-National Corps – Iraq, Office of the Staff Judge Advocate and his new friend. Spc. Kubowski volunteered to hand out candy, clothes and toys to Iraqi kids who were at the center getting medical care. It was a great day all around.
