Yongsan Garrison is one of four finalists worldwide in the Army Communities of Excellence competition.

A team from the Department of the Army will visit Yongsan in early November to verify the garrison’s submission packet, The Morning Calm, the Army’s command publication in South Korea, reported Friday.

The Communities of Excellence program measures the performance of unit base operations services, and provides award funds to be spent on community improvements.

Yongsan Garrison won $500,000 in 2001, when it was a finalist for the award, according to the newspaper.
