Ground-breaking was set for Tuesday for the new Commander William C. McCool elementary and middle school on U.S. Naval Base Guam.

The Department of Defense Education Activities Guam District school will service all eligible Department of Defense students on Guam, according to a Navy news release.

When completed, the school will be able to accommodate 850 students and will have more than 52,000 square feet of space.

Dick Pacific Construction was awarded the contract in March. The project is scheduled to be completed in May 2008.
