When to turn holiday lights on and off on Okinawa
With the holiday season here, base residents on Okinawa have begun stringing up holiday lights. But there are some guidelines base residents should follow.
Outside holiday lights are allowed, but they shouldn’t be turned on before dusk, said 2nd Lt. Claire Arnold, chief of Facilities for Kadena Air Base which oversees Okinawa’s military housing areas.
While there isn’t an official limit on the amount of outside lighting allowed, good judgment should always be used.
Outside lights should be turned off by 10 p.m.
And, all outside holiday lights and decorations should be removed by Jan. 3, she said.
