Water restrictions end at Sasebo
Sasebo City’s Water Bureau lifted water restrictions this week, according to water bureau officials.
The bureau, which supplied water to Sasebo Naval Base, made the decision after the city’s recently dwindling water supply recovered to 83 percent of normal. Additional rain is forecast, said bureau spokesman Tetsumi Yumura.
Water levels in area reservoirs had dropped to 64 percent of normal as of July 2. The depleted supply was enough to last the city just 30 days, officials said at the time.
The base was not affected by the water restrictions; however, base officials encouraged residents to conserve voluntarily during the shortage.
