Sixteen volunteers received awards in two separate volunteer recognition ceremonies held last week at RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall.

On April 26, RAF Lakenheath honored four of its top volunteers picked from a database of more than 1,000 volunteers who recorded about 168,000 volunteer hours.

The recipients:

Volunteer Administrator of the Year: Tech. Sgt. Tony Horde.

Volunteer of the Year: Tech. Sgt. Christopher Mealer.

Volunteer Excellence Award: Nancy Schneider.

Angel Award: Michelle Lillie.

Members of the RAF Mildenhall community gathered April 29 to reward the efforts of 12 of 1,500 volunteers who reported more than 34,000 volunteer hours. Only 30 percent of all volunteers were believed to have reported their hours, according to the Family Support Center.

The award recipients for RAF Mildenhall were:

Angel Award: Kelly Kosefeski, Heidi Sobotik, Annette Jacobs and Natalie Ogan.

Volunteer Excellence Award: Christina Steinmann, Diane Strand, Master Sgt. Anthony Villamor and Staff Sgt. Darin Berndt.

Very Important Patriot Award: Staff Sgt. Brian Newton, Senior Master Sgt. Robert Burrell and Staff Sgt. Jamie George.
