V Corps plans informational meetings as second Iraq deployment nears
The V Corps will host several informational meetings for headquarters soldiers in the Heidelberg, Germany, area this week and next to discuss their second deployment to Iraq.
Corps officials and representatives of several community service agencies, including the Red Cross, will discuss where the unit will be going and what it will be doing, as well as issues involving pay and points of contact.
V Corps headquarters plans to deploy to Iraq in early 2006, assuming command of the Multi-National Corps, Iraq, from XVIII Airborne Corps. Its commander will be Army Maj. Gen. Peter W. Chiarelli, who has been nominated for a third star.
“We’ll be telling people what kinds of events they can expect next year,” said Master Sgt. Thomas Holterman, rear detachment sergeant major for the V Corps’ Special Troops Battalion.
The briefings are scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Wilson Theater on Nachrichten Kaserne. A third session has been scheduled for Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. in the ballroom of the Village Pavilion at Patrick Henry Village.
The meetings are expected to last a couple of hours. For more information contact Holterman at 373-5146 or 06221-17-5146.
