(Tribune News Service) — U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis skydived with the Golden Knights U.S. Army Parachute Team on Thursday at Fort Bragg, his office announced.

Tillis jumped with Maj. Gen. Frank M. Muth, the commanding general of the U.S. Army Recruiting Command, his office said.

"North Carolina is the proud home of the Golden Knights at Fort Bragg, and I was honored to have been invited to jump with them," Tillis said in the announcement. "The Golden Knights assist with the Army's readiness, and they also play a vital role in sharing the values of the Army and the United States military across our nation and the world."

His office also released a video showing Tillis boarding and riding the skydiving plane and jumping out with a member of the Golden Knights attached to his back in a tandem jump.

Tillis, grinning, gave two thumbs up and played air guitar during his free fall.
