Military helicopter makes forced landing at Florida elementary school

A military helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing at Middleburg Elementary School in Middleburg, Fla. Tuesday evening, according to the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

The helicopter made the landing about 7 p.m. at the school. Police said the helicopter experienced a mechanical issue and landed safely, and there is no threat to the public.

Another military helicopter was circling the area as a precaution, the Clay County Sheriff's Office told First Coast News.

No more information on which branch of the military the helicopter belongs to was available, police said.
