Marine accused of strangling woman

A Camp Lejeune Marine has been accused of strangling a woman.
Lance Cpl. Andrew Evans Winzeler, 24, of Sherwood Road in Jacksonville was arrested by the Jacksonville Police Department on Jan. 22 in relation to a domestic violence incident and charged with assault by strangulation and assault on a female.
Winzeler is accused of causing redness around the esophagus by strangulation, according to warrants.
Winzeler made his first appearance Jan. 23 before Onslow County District Court Judge Carol Jones where he waived his right to counsel, according to court documents. Winzeler’s next court date is scheduled for Feb. 13.
Winzeler is attached to Headquarters Battery, 10th Marine Division where his military occupational specialty is as a 2841 electronic systems maintainer, according to 1st. Lt. Thomas Kleiber, communication strategy and operations, 2nd Marine Division.
Winzeler remains in custody in the Onslow County Jail under a $10,000 bond, according to Vinelink.
