For U.S. citizens living stateside who need a passport or need to renew one, the U.S. State Department will make the process easier on Saturday when it hosts the third annual “Passport Day in the USA.”

U.S. citizens throughout the country may apply for or renew a passport without an appointment at regional passport agencies and participating passport application acceptance facilities, including post offices and clerks of court, according to a State Department news release.

Passport applicants will be able to apply for standard processing (four to six weeks) or pay an additional $60 for expedited processing (two to three weeks, door-to-door). To reduce wait times on Saturday, customers are advised to complete the application online at www.travel.state.gov, print it and bring it with them.

All 26 passport agencies will be open to the public for extended Saturday hours.

For more information, including location of participating facilities, hours of operation, as well as a list of fees and passport requirements, go to www.travel.state.gov. The National Passport Information Center toll-free phone number is 1-877-487-2778.
