YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea — The South Korean and U.S. militaries will hold their combined Ulchi Focus Lens exercise Aug. 21 to Sept. 1, U.S. Forces Korea officials announced Friday.
The annual exercise involves a computer simulation “to train, evaluate and improve combined and joint procedures, plans and systems for conducting operations critical to the defense of the peninsula,” according to a USFK release Friday.
The exercise will involve 5,000 U.S. servicemembers stationed in South Korea and 3,000 from off-peninsula, according to USFK. The annual exercise began in 1975.
