U.S. naval forces in Europe wrapped up a weeklong quarterly exercise Wednesday, testing the Navy’s ability to rapidly and efficiently combine staff from different commands, according to a Navy news release.
Sailors and Marines from U.S. Naval Forces Europe and U.S. 6th Fleet were underway aboard the USS Mount Whitney, the fleet’s flagship, as part of an exercise forming the Joint Forces Maritime Component Command Europe. They participated in practical and scenario-specific training on the principles of operational-level planning, the release stated.
The Joint Forces Maritime Component Command Europe is the naval arm of the U.S. European Command.
