WIESBADEN, Germany — Members of the U.S. Luge Team will be visiting three Department of Defense Dependents Schools in Germany as part of a USO education tour next week, according to a USO press release.
Twelve USA Luge team members and four coaches will split into groups and visit Kaiserslautern Elementary School, Kaiserslautern Middle School and Ramstein Middle School from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday. The group includes six 2010 Winter Olympians.
The national team will visit between this weekend’s World Cup events in Igls, Austria, and next weekend’s competition in Winterberg, Germany.
The athletes and coaches will bring sleds, racing suits and helmets. They will explain the nuances of luging, and talk about how the skills needed to succeed in elite-level sports are the same as those needed to succeed in life, according to the release.
