WATTON — A 20-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving following a vehicle pursuit May 6, according to a Norfolk Constabulary news release.

The high-speed pursuit started in the Watton area at 3:35 p.m. when a driver failed to stop for police, the release stated. The driver continued through Attleborough and abandoned the car in Besthorpe.

Pursuit-trained officers and the air support unit brought the incident to a safe conclusion, according to the release.

James Smith, of Castleford Close, Thetford, was charged with dangerous driving and other road-related offenses. He has been released on bail and was scheduled to appear before Thetford Magistrates Court on May 15.

Woman assaulted with knife near SudburyLONG MELFORD — Sudbury Police are seeking information on an April 24 assault involving a knife.

At about 8:30 a.m., a 37-year-old woman was getting out of her car on Sudbury Road in Long Melford when a man approached her from behind, grabbed her by the neck and held a knife to her face, according to a Suffolk Constabulary news release.

The man did not say a word and within a few seconds let go of the woman and ran off toward Long Melford. The woman was not injured but was left shaken by the ordeal, the release said.

The man is described as white and 6 feet tall. He was wearing a white jacket with the hood up, white tracksuit trousers and a dark scarf over his face.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or recognizes the man are asked to inform the Sudbury Police at 01284 774300 or Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.

Two men in group attack St. Ives teenST. IVES — Police are seeking information on an assault of an 18-year-old on April 30.

The St. Ives resident was walking home from work at about midnight when he was approached by a group of men and women.

Two of the men began to harass the victim, who walked on and asked them to leave him alone, according to a Cambridgeshire Constabulary news release.

The men continued following the teen and one of the them punched him in the face, bloodying his nose.

One man was described as white, 6 feet tall, slim, with dark hair. He had what is described as a South African accent and wore a light T-shirt and jeans.

The other man was white and 5-foot-10 inches with short brown hair and wore jeans, a T-shirt and a black jacket.
