Two men arrested in attack on airmen appear in British court
BURY ST. EDMUNDS, England — Two Cambridge men charged with assault and threatening behavior in connection with an alleged attack on two RAF Mildenhall airmen made their initial appearance in British court Thursday.
Edward Harper, 18, and William Harper, 21, who share the same Cambridge address, appeared in Bury St. Edmunds Magistrate’s Court, were released on bail and ordered to return for another court date on Oct. 26.
The pair allegedly assaulted two members of the 100th Maintenance Squadron in an alley near several popular Newmarket nightclubs in late July.
Edward Harper faces three counts of assault and one count of threatening behavior, while William Harper faces one count each of assault and threatening behavior.
Air Force Senior Airman Antonio Barranca, 26, faces one count of possession of an article with a blade in connection with the incident.
He is slated to appear in the same court on Tuesday.
