Two Iraqi civilians are dead after a collision between their vehicle and a Bradley armored troop carrier, officials said Friday.

The incident occurred around 6 a.m. Friday near the town of Khalis in Diyala province. The two dead include one child.

U.S. military officials said the two were killed “when their vehicle caught fire after it swerved into a Bradley Fighting Vehicle,” according to a news release. No independent information about the incident was available Friday.

Khalis falls under the area patrolled by the 42nd Infantry Division, headquartered in Kirkuk.

According to U.S. military officials at Multi-National Forces-Iraq headquarters in Baghdad, Iraqi army and police were sent to the scene of the crash to investigate.
