SEOUL — Two Seoul American High School students are headed to an Army engineering and construction camp this summer.
Christina Robinson, 16, and Stella Cho, 15, were selected by Korea Post of the Society of American Military Engineers, or SAME, for academic achievement, community service and extracurricular activities.
Cho said she’s “pretty excited” about the chance to attend the camp and hopes it will help her decide on a career route.
Her father is an engineer with the Army Corps of Engineers Far East District in Seoul.
Cho said she’s leaning toward environmental engineering.
Robinson said the camp would “really help my goal” of becoming a chemical engineer. She said she first learned of the camp during the annual Army Corps of Engineers annual engineering day at Seoul American.
The camp will be held June 8-14 in Vicksburg, Miss.
The girls will be housed with 38 other students at the 412th Engineer Command and will participate in hands-on engineering and construction under the supervision of SAME professionals and other volunteers, according school information.
Activities will include a computer-aided design, a young engineer discussion, a visit to the Grand Gulf Power Plant and labs.
School officials said two other students will be selected later to attend Navy and Air Force engineering camps.
