CAMP CASEY, South Korea — Two 2nd Infantry Division soldiers from the same unit faced unrelated courts-martial this week, officials confirmed Wednesday.
Pvt. Luke L. Duell, of the 1st Battalion, 15th Field Artillery, B Battery, will spend two months in confinement and one month at hard labor after pleading guilty Wednesday to assault, court officials said. He also pleaded guilty at the special court-martial to failing to report for duty, unauthorized absence, disrespecting a noncommissioned officer, violating a lawful order not to leave post and violating curfew.
Military Judge Col. Gregory Gross found Duell not guilty of violating an order not to leave post on another occasion, officials said.
Duell also was reduced in rank to E-1 and will forfeit $500 per month for two months.
In a separate ruling on Tuesday, another soldier from Duell’s battery pleaded guilty to several charges and received a bad-conduct discharge.
Pvt. Thomas E. Sekscinski was found guilty of failing to report to duty, unauthorized absence and violating a lawful order on six different occasions, court officials said Wednesday.
Sekscinski was sentenced to nine months of confinement and forfeiture of pay along with his discharge.
