Off base: Chuck’s Diner in downtown Kaiserslautern is offering a free Thanksgiving buffet to single servicemembers. The diner is located at 24 Stein Strasse in the pedestrian zone. When walking from the Burger King downtown, head toward the Kaiserbruhne and the bar will be on your right. The bar takes dollars and euros and drinks start at 2.90 euros. The free meal is especially for single servicemembers — it’s not a family venue, according to the bar owner. Last year about 40 servicemembers showed up.
The bar opens at 6 p.m. and will have NFL games playing at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. on four flat-screen televisions.
On base: The Ramstein South Chapel will host a dinner in conjunction with the Single’s Ministry and Hospitality House. The chapel’s Home Away From Home project also will help single servicemembers find host families offering dinner in their homes. For more information, call the Ramstein South Chapel at DSN 480-5753.
The Rhine Ordnance Barracks and Kleber Kaserne dining facilities will have Thanksgiving dinners. Dinner runs from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is $6.05, or a normal meal swipe if servicemembers are on the meal plan. Turkey and all the fixings will be served.
