Two sailors from Naval Air Station Sigonella died recently in traffic incidents.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Akini Belle, 28, died Thursday morning on his way to work at NAS Sigonella, according to Lt. Jon Groveman, base public affairs spokesman.

Belle was traveling in a car at 7:30 a.m. Thursday on SS192 when he hit an Italian dump truck, Groveman said. He died at the scene.

A second sailor was killed at 6:30 p.m. Saturday when the motorcycle he was riding hit an Italian cargo vehicle. The sailor, whose name has not been released because next of kin have not been notified, also died at the scene.

Both incidents are under investigation, Groveman said.
