Traffic accident that killed South Korean man probed
PYEONGTAEK, South Korea — South Korean authorities are investigating a traffic incident in which a civilian contractor working at Camp Humphreys allegedly struck and killed an elderly South Korean man Friday, officials said Monday.
Officials identified the contractor as James Rice, an employee of DynCorp International.
A DynCorp news release identified the victim as Shin Dong-oh. It said Rice, an aviation mechanic who’s lived in South Korea for eight years, “is cooperating fully with the Korean National Police investigation.”
South Korean authorities have jurisdiction in the case, the release said, and the company “extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends who have suffered the loss of a loved one.”
No further details were available Monday afternoon.
