A tip from a local Iraqi man led a joint patrol of U.S. and Iraqi soldiers to a weapons cache containing more than 500 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition near Tal Afar, officials said Sunday.
The U.S. soldiers, of the Germany-based 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, were working with Iraqi troops from 3rd Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 3rd Iraqi Army Division.
The rounds were 14mm anti-aircraft ammunition and were destroyed at a nearby base, officials said.
