Three officers questioned, released in Belgium stabbing
Three Army officers and an Army civilian employee were taken into custody by Belgian authorities over the weekend and questioned in connection to a stabbing, Belgian police said Monday. They were later released.
A Belgian man was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries in the stabbing, Belgian police said. He was still hospitalized as of Monday afternoon.
The two captains, second lieutenant and civilian were involved in an altercation at about midnight Friday in the vicinity of the city of Ath’s main square with an unknown number of Belgian citizens, Army officials said in a release.
The officers and civilian, who are based at Caserne Daumerie in Chievres, Belgium, were questioned and released the next day, the release said.
Army officials would provide no further information in the case other than to say it was under investigation by U.S. and Belgian authorities.
