Three more soldiers face charges for the murders of Afghan civilians
Three additional soldiers from the 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division were charged with murder Tuesday in connection with the deaths of three Afghan civilians, according to I Corps.Pfc. Andrew Holmes, Spc. Michael Wagnon and Spc. Adam Winfield were charged on Tuesday, while Spc. Jeremy Morlock was charged on June 4 and Staff Sgt. Calvin Gibbs was charged on June 8. Morlock and Gibbs each face three separate murder charges, while Holmes, Wagnon and Winfield have each been charged with one count. Three Afghan civilians were killed in three separate incidents between January and May, said I Corps spokeswoman Lt. Col. Tamara Parker.Four of the soldiers are already being held at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington. Gibbs, who was charged while in Kuwait, is expected to arrive at Lewis-McChord within days.
