RAF MILDENHALL, England — Officials at RAF Lakenheath are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of thieves who stole military gear, including helmets, vests and sleeping bags.
A Thursday post on the base’s Facebook page stated that the Office of Special Investigations is seeking information about the theft of interceptor body armor kits, advanced combat helmets, modular sleeping systems and extreme cold weather boots from building 1068 on Lakenheath.
A sign on the building describes it as the 48th Logistics Readiness Squadron “Mobility Readiness Spares Packages.”
A spokesman for Lakenheath wrote in an email that “mobility readiness items are equipment items issued for a variety of deployments or training events.”
OSI is offering up to $10,000 for information leading to apprehensions and convictions. Lakenheath’s OSI detachment can be reached at 01638-54-7257.
