There's no place like a new home
RAF LAKENHEATH — Base officials held a ribbon cutting Wednesday for the first homes to open in the five-year Liberty Housing Village project.
The family of Staff Sgt. John Vohs, a 48th Civil Engineering Squadron airman, received the first of the 89 homes recently made available.
“I think it’s beautiful. We’re very impressed,” Vohs said as he toured the three-bedroom home.
The $209 million, five-phase project will include more than 600 housing units, including two-, three- and four-bedroom homes set in a traditional neighborhood with parks and walking paths.
The homes will feature garages, improved soundproofing and energy efficiency and more space than their predecessors, according to a 48th Fighter Wing news release.
