Bases across Japan are planning special meals and events for Thanksgiving.

Yokota Air BaseThe Samurai Café will be open for Thanksgiving lunch for all enlisted personnel and temporary duty status active-duty military members from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. From noon to 1:30 p.m., Col. John F. Newell, the 374th Airlift Wing commander, will serve Thanksgiving dinner.

The Tomodachi Lanes bowling alley will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., offering free bowling for up to three games and shoe rental throughout the day. For more information, call DSN 225-7191.

Misawa Air BaseThe Single Adult Ministry is hosting a Thanksgiving Day dinner for single and unaccompanied personnel at the chapel’s fellowship hall from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Volunteers will deliver box lunches to single or unaccompanied personnel working on Thanksgiving.

Single or unaccompanied enlisted personnel also may eat at Grissom Dining Facility from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. Call DSN 226-4463 for more information.

Also on Thanksgiving, Misawa’s Collocated Club will have a buffet from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Tohoku Dining Room. Cost is $14.95 for adults, $7.25 for ages 6 to 12 and $2.50 for ages 3 to 5. The buffet will feature a carving table, seafood stations, cornbread stuffing, breads, dessert, crepes, beverages and fruit and cheese. Meat items will include roast turkey, baked pit ham with rum-raisin sauce, herb-roasted chicken, and roast pork with cider glaze. Club members receive the Members First discount. Yokosuka Naval BaseThe Officer’s Club will have an all-you-can-eat Thanksgiving Day dinner from noon to 7 p.m. in the Kosano Dining Room. Cost is $14.95 for adults and $7.95 for children age 5 to 11; children 4 and under eat free.

The CPO Club will have a Thanksgiving Day buffet from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Cost is $13.95 for adults and $4.95 for children 5 to 7.

Club Alliance will offer a home-style Thanksgiving dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Italian Gardens. The base galley, the “Jewel of the East,” is open from 3 to 5:30 p.m.

At Ikego Housing, Club Takemiya will have a Thanksgiving buffet from 5 to 9 p.m. in the dining room. Adult price is $12.95. Children 5 to 11 cost $6, while 4 and younger eat free.

At Negishi Housing, the All Hands Club will serve Thanksgiving from noon to 8 p.m. The club will have whole dinners to go — enough for eight people. There’s no a la carte menu.

Marine Corps Air Station IwakuniThe Iwakuni dining facility will have a Thanksgiving meal from 3 to 5:30 p.m. The meal is open to family members and Department of Defense civilians at a special price of $5.15 for family members of grades E-1 through E-4 and $6.05 for personnel receiving commuted rations.

Club Iwakuni will have a Thanksgiving Day buffet in its Grand Ballroom from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Reservations are required, and the cost for the buffet is $15.95 for adults and $5.95 for children ages 4 to 10.

A Thanksgiving buffet and Madden video game tournament will be held at the Hornet’s Nest beginning at noon on Thanksgiving Day. The event is free and is open to all single, unaccompanied Marines.

Sasebo Naval BaseThe Shogun Café will have a Thanksgiving meal from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. The meal is free for servicemembers E-5 and below and is open to Department of Defense civilians. The cost for the meal is $6.05.

The Harbor View Club’s Thanksgiving Day buffet will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $15.95 for adults and $6.95 for children ages 4 to 10.

The USO will have a Thanksgiving event for single sailors at the Fleet Landing from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It’s free, and attendees will receive a 100-minute phone card and be eligible to win door prizes.

Camp ZamaThe Camp Zama dining facility will have its main Thanksgiving meal on Wednesday, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The meal costs $6.05 and is open to all base identification card holders. The dining facility will reopen from 4 to 5 p.m. with admission costing $5.15.

On Thanksgiving Day, the dining facility will have a Thanksgiving brunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $4.20. The dining facility will reopen from 4 to 5 p.m. with admission costing $5.15.
