Taliban militants arrested for planning suicide attack in Kabul
KABUL, Afghanistan — Security officials on Monday arrested three Taliban militants who were planning to carry out a suicide attack in the capital, Afghanistan’s intelligence agency said.
The men, who confessed they were involved in smaller explosions in the recent past, were plotting to assassinate an intelligence employee at his house, said the National Directorate of Security.
With the end last week of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, many analysts fear Kabul could be increasingly targeted by militants.
A suicide attack outside the NDS’s office in April killed 64 people and wounded more than 320. It was the deadliest single attack in the Afghan capital since 2011.
