Storms knock out power at RAF Lakenheath
September 26, 2006
RAF LAKENHEATH, England — Storms that swept through the Suffolk County area Sunday night left some RAF Lakenheath residents in the dark for a few hours.
The nasty weather knocked power out at Lakenheath from about 5:45 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, said Senior Airman Wes Auldridge, a Lakenheath spokesman.
The storms also left surrounding British communities without electricity on Sunday, he said.
Some offices and facilities at the air base have their own generators that kick in within seconds of an outage, he said, but residences on the base do not have the backup capability.
