SEOUL — Heavy rains and winds swept across the Korean peninsula Wednesday, causing minor problems on U.S. military bases.
At Yongsan Garrison, a tree branch downed a power line, causing brief power outages, according to base officials; there were no reports of flooding.
American Forces Network broadcast monsoon safety messages and warned residents to steer clear of low-lying, flood-prone areas.
Park Jung-Min, of the Korea Meteorological Administration, said Thursday that the southern part of the peninsula received from one to three inches of rain Wednesday afternoon. The KMA issued a heavy-rain warning when the downpour hit three inches, Park said.
