The England Junior League Baseball team recently returned from the European World Series qualifying tournament in Poland where it finished second to the Germany-American squad from Ramstein.

The England team fell to the German team 7-3 in the tournament’s July 17 championship game in Kutno, Poland.

The England team had eight players from the Dodgers, composed of 13- and 14-year-old dependents of RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall airmen. The Dodgers ended their regular season with a 9-1 record in the London Youth Baseball League.

The team was coached by James Frederick, who serves at the 100th Air Refueling Wing at Mildenhall.

The German squad will travel to Taylor, Mich., to compete in the Junior League World Series to be held Aug. 13-19.

Team members from the Lakenheath and Mildenhall communities were: Tim Frederick (catcher); Marshal Todman (left field); Marshall Webb (third base); Kyle Dawicki (second base, short stop); Travis Scurlock (center field); Tyler Woodrow (first base); Zack Wilson (right field); Matt Linder (second base sub); Marc Weidler (left field sub). Team members from the London area were: Mac Anderson (pitcher); David Robertson (pitcher, shortstop); Josh Halverson (second base sub).
