Richard Mazurkiewicz - Army

June 1, 1967. I was lead man for a forward observer team and had to choose two men to accompany me on a mission near the Central Highlands. One of the two chosen was Terry McComb. He was a member of my squad in 2/8 1st Cav Division.

For some reason our platoon sergeant wanted him to stay with the rest of the platoon and denied him from being part of my team. Our team left on our mission without Terry. The next day our platoon ran into an ambush of NVA regulars in the village of Bong Son. Upon our return three days later, we were told that Terry was killed in the firefight.

To this day I believe he should have been with my team, If so, he would still be alive today.
