Special Ops commander promoted to major general
Brig. Gen. David P. Fridovich, commander of Special Operations Command, Pacific, was promoted to major general Friday at a ceremony in Hawaii.
Adm. William J. Fallon, commander of Pacific Command, administered the oath to promote Fridovich.
The Department of the Army promoted Fridovich and at the same time upgraded the command leadership to a two-star position, according to a Pacific Command statement.
SOCPAC was created in 1983 under the Pacific Command with just 18 personnel. The command has grown to include special forces from Okinawa, Guam, South Korea and Hawaii and maintains training and other missions throughout the Pacific Command.
