Weapons loaders from Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, and Aviano Air Base, Italy, took top awards at the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Sure Fire ’05 competition last week at Spangdahlem.

The 81st Aircraft Maintenance Unit at Spangdahlem was the overall winner of the weapons loading contest, dubbed a “lodeo.” Team members were: Senior Master Sgt. Donald Molner, weapons load team supervisor; Staff Sgt. John Putman, load team chief; Staff Sgt. Daniel Kaczmar, load team chief; and load team members Senior Airman Colin Heine, Senior Airman Stephen Mitchell, Senior Airman Jonathan Oxner, and Airman 1st Class Kalilimoku Hunt.

Senior Airman Joshua Shively, with the Spangdahlem-based 23rd Aircraft Maintenance Unit, was named the best jammer driver, proving his skills at driving the vehicle used to transport heavy bombs to the aircraft.

The 31st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Aviano Air Base was the top load crew. The team was made up of Staff Sgt. Scott Batson, load team chief, and load team members Senior Airman Joel Stanfield and Senior Airman Dallas Thornton.
