A 1st Infantry Division soldier died Saturday after being brought to the Würzburg Army Community Hospital, and a 4th Brigade, 1st Armored Division soldier was found dead Saturday two days after being reported missing, U.S. military officials said Sunday.

The identities of the two soldiers were being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The 1st ID soldier was brought by another soldier from a nearby barracks to the Army hospital at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday and was experiencing pain and weakness, according to Maj. Bill Coppernoll, a 1st ID spokesman. Doctors were unable to revive the soldier, who died about two hours later. The U.S. military was investigating the incident, Coppernoll said.

The 1st AD soldier was found dead by German police near his vehicle near the town of Lauterbach, located about 60 miles northeast of Hanau, where the 4th Brigade is based. German and American authorities were investigating the death, said Coppernoll, who added that he did not have any details on the cause of death.

A German police spokesman said Sunday that more details on the case in Lauterbach might be available on Monday.
