KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — A soldier injured when she was run over by a tracked vehicle in Kuwait is in fair condition at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., a spokesman said Wednesday.

Sgt. Casaundra Grant, 24, of the 94th Transportation Company, was injured when the vehicle hit her during a sandstorm at Camp Doha.

She was airlifted to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany on Sunday, stabilized and moved to the Washington hospital on Monday, Landstuhl spokeswoman Marie Shaw said.

Doctors had to amputate Grant’s left leg below the knee and she sustained multiple fractures to her right leg, said Bill Swisher, the Walter Reed spokesman.
