SEOUL — A 2nd Infantry Division soldier was killed in Iraq on June 11, the Defense Department announced.

Sgt. 1st Class Neil A. Prince, 35, of Baltimore was killed in Al Taqaddum, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle, according to a news release.

Prince was assigned to 2nd ID’s 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade. That unit deployed to Iraq in August from Camp Hovey, South Korea, as part of the 3,500-member 2nd Brigade Combat Team (Strike Force).

The latest death brings the total number of Strike Force soldiers killed in Iraq to 63, according to a Stars and Stripes tally.
